ADMISSION PROCEDURE

International students can apply for Provisional Admission into any undergraduate, post-graduate, B.E./B.Tech./ B.Pharmacy/Pharma.D./BHM & CT/BCT&CA/M.E./M.Tech. and other Diploma programmes fromJanuary 1st every year. However,the cutoff date for UG, PG & Diploma Courses is May 31 of that year and for B.E./B.Tech./ B.Pharmacy/Pharma.D./BHM & CT/BCT&CA/M.E./M.Tech. Course is June 30 of that year. The admissions for Ph.D. programme are available throughout the year.

CERTIFICATE COURSE IN ENGLISH FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS (CCEFS)

    • After scrutiny of the applications for eligibility, the University will issue a 'Provisional Admission Letter' for the purpose of obtaining from Indian Consulate/Embassy a 'Student Visa' endorsed to Osmania University without which no admission can be made.
    • After obtaining the Student Visa endorsed to Osmania University, the students must report for 'Final Admission' along with Original Certificates and tuition fee as stipulated in the course-wise fee details to the Director, University Foreign Relations Office, Osmania University, Hyderabad - 500 007, India.
    • When the student reports at UFRO with a valid 'Student Visa', admission process will be initiated and a letter of final admission addressed to the Principal of the concerned college will be issued.  The Candidate shall report to the Principal of the allotted college along with the final admission letter and join the allotted programme. After fulfilling the admission process at the allotted college the student should take a bonafide certificate issued by the college and obtain residential permit from the FRO, Hyderabad.

Under-Graduate, Post-Graduate, Engineering and other Diploma Programmes:

  • After obtaining the Student Visa endorsed to Osmania University, the students must report for 'Final Admission' along with Original Certificates and tuition fee as stipulated in the course-wise fee details to the Director, University Foreign Relations Office, Osmania University, Hyderabad - 500 007, India.
  • When the student reports at UFRO with a valid 'Student Visa', and original certificates, the admission process will be initiated and a letter of final admission addressed to the Principal of the concerned college will be issued.  The Candidate shall report to the Principal of the allotted college along with the final admission letter and join the allotted programme. After fulfilling the admission process at the allotted college the student should take a bonafide certificate issued by the college and obtain residential permit from the FRRO, Hyderabad.

Ph. D. Programme:

  1. As and when the applications are received at UFRO, they will be processed for establishing eligibility. 'Provisional Admission Letters' will be issued to the eligible students. The date of reporting mentioned on the Provisional Admission Letter is final and it cannot be extended under any circumstances. The admission gets automatically cancelled after the stipulated last date.
  2. After obtaining the Provisional Admission Letter from this office, the foreign students from self-financing category are required to download the application form for Research Visa from the website www.education.nic.in/hesch1.aspand submit the duly filled in application form along with the necessary documentary evidences in seven sets to the Director, UFRO, O.U. for obtaining the signature & attestation of the Registrar, Osmania University on the Certificate of Affiliation. After obtaining the signature of the Registrar, the candidates have to submit the above documents at the respective Embassy / Consulate of India and obtain 'Research Visa' which is mandatory for any university in order to admit the student into Ph.D. programme.
  3. When the student reports at UFRO with a valid 'Research Visa', admission process will be initiated and a final letter of admission addressed to the Dean of the Faculty will be issued.  The same will be intimated to the college Principal and the concerned Head of the Department.
  4. The foreign students shall report to the Dean of the Faculty with the letter of final admission and join the Ph.D. Programme.
  5. The Dean shall admit the scholar and initiate the process of identifying the research guide / supervisor in consultation with the Departmental committee.
  6. Joining Report of the foreign scholar shall be intimated by the concerned Dean to the Principal of the college, Head of the Department, Chairman, Board of Studies concerned, the Director, UFRO and the Deputy Registrar (Academic).
  7. The foreign students are required to obtain Bonafide Certificate from the Principal’s office of the concerned colleges and apply for Residential Permit in the office of the Foreign Regional Registration Office (FRRO), Old Airport, Begumpet, Hyderabad. The Principals cannot issue a bonafide to the scholar unless he/she completes the admission formalities at the Dean’s Office and obtains admission order from the Dean’s office.
  8. The foreign students are also instructed to submit a copy of the Residential Permit in the office of UFRO, O.U. immediately after obtaining the same from the office of FRRO, Hyderabad, failing which their admission process will not be complete.
  9. The date of reporting of the foreign student to the Dean shall be the date of joining into the programme for all purposes.
  10. The annual tuition fee payable is accounted from the above date of joining at the office of UFRO, O.U.
  11. The foreign scholar shall finalize the topic of research in consultation with the research supervisor and communicate the synopsis of the project to be undertaken to the Dean of the Faculty.
  12. The Dean shall finalize the topic of research and supervisor and issue orders marking a copy to the Principal, Head, Chairman, Board of Studies, COE, Deputy Registrar of Academic Branch and the Director, UFRO immediately.
  13. The candidates are requested to note that the duration of the course, the Pre-Ph.D. Examination, the syllabus, seminars, thesis submission procedure and evaluation are same as specified in the ‘Ph.D. Rules and Regulations 2010-11' of Osmania University.  However, some of the salient features are briefly outlined below for the benefit of foreign students.

General Information relating to Ph.D. Admissions:

  1. The admissions of foreign research scholars into the Ph.D. programme offered by various faculties in the University shall be made in two stages, viz.,
    1. Provisional Admission, and
    2. Final admission.
  2. A candidate who is found eligible to get admission in Ph.D. is initially given provisional admission. On procurement of research visa he/she is given final admission.
  3. The allotment of topic and supervisor shall be made by the Dean after finalization of the same by the concerned Departmental Committee.
  4. The Ph.D. programme of foreign students shall be FULL TIME and the duration of the research is four years from the date of joining, extendable each year for four more years with the approval of the Dean of concerned faculty, Chairman, Board of Studies and Head of the concerned Department. Consequently, no Ph.D. scholar is permitted to leave the University for their Home Country or any other place in India without specific permission from the faculty and the UFRO.
  5. Ph.D. Course work:
    1. Every candidate admitted into the Ph.D. programme shall complete the course work consisting of two theory papers, viz.,
      1. Research Methodology; and
      2. Broad field of Specialization
    2. Each candidate shall attend a minimum of 75% of 60 contact hours of classes in each theory paper, to be eligible for writing the Pre-Ph.D. examination.
    3. The medium of instruction and examination in the course work is English only.
    4. The maximum number of attempts to pass in the Pre-Ph.D. examination is two only.
  6.
